Who wins the war?

 

 
In which war has
humanity ever won?
What honour survives
when the inferno gulps all?
Which nationalism has
ever shown a heart,
Or spared the ones
who never raised a hand?
The innocent still weep
through shattered nights,
Their tears now
mingled with the blood of war.
And the stars blink in pain
From the eteranal darkness
And yet,
what nation stands and speaks aloud,
Declaring unambiguously,
“We are not at war…
Give peace a chance..”?
